Last October I wrote a short article about women over 50 with a youthful attitude. I do respect women who have their own individual flair for fashion. It may not always be my taste but I admire these ladies who demonstrate that mature style does not have to be dull, boring or safe. I have also featured some similar clothes that are available online in case you’d like to try out any of these style ideas for yourself…
Here’s another of our wonderful Chestnut Tree Children’s Hospice charity shop customers who looks effortlessly stylish in her ensemble. A heritage tweed jacket (note the upturned collar) is, in my book, a sound investment as they never go out of fashion. Teamed with a Fair Isle sweater (very on trend), well fitting corduroy trousers and a practical crossbody bag.
The beret is the icing on the cake (so to speak!) Or is it the orange flower brooch?
Loving her choices of neutrals highlighted with a crisp white shirt. This look could work equally well using navy as your base colour.

A white or cream coat is a fabulous thing because it gives you guaranteed instant style. Black and white or keeping everything else the same (or very similar) colours is also very effective.

Long coatigans, cardigans, shackets, ponchos – they all look fabulous as part of a casual outfit. Plus you have that extra layer which is so essential for colder weather.

Obviously couldn’t miss this lady in a crowd! I loved her vivid fuscia hair – apparently she started dyeing it during lockdown. Most of all I admire her for standing out in a crowd with a beaming smile.
She told me that everything she is wearing came from charity shops apart from the Dr. Martens which were a 50th birthday present. She particularly likes the flatform sole which gives her more height and she says they are a dream to wear. In fact, everyone I’ve met who wears Dr. Martens all say the same thing – superbly comfortable. There are so many styles to choose from. Have a look at the selection at Office
Skirts! Have women stopped wearing them in favour of trousers?
I know I did until I rediscovered how much fun they were worn with long boots and opaque tights.
Longer length skirts also work brilliantly with both long and ankle boots.
