As soon as the weather warms up each year, Annabel and I look forward to wearing white jeans. They add instant pzazz to your wardrobe so long as, in my humble opinion, you only wear them in the Summer. White jeans in the winter just isn’t the same somehow.
Why do we love white jeans so much? Well, so many reasons. Whatever your age white jeans make us look cool, chic and contemporary. They go with almost any other colour – from jewel colours to neutrals like camel.
True, they’re not ideal to wear when it’s bucketing down, as mud splashes ruin the overall effect! It’s prudent for us older women not to wear them too tight but other than that once you have found a brand/style that flatters your particular body shape, you are off and running…
As a general rule we recommend going for high waisted, straight leg jeans with about 5% elastane (for stretch). Try and avoid very thin material as often the pockets will show – unless you are like me and only wear longer length tops as I have no waist to show off. In the old days, we used to have to pay £150+ for a pair of well fitting jeans but luckily this is no longer the case.
HUSH BANANA REPUBLIC MANGO
Darya jeans from Hush feature a partial elasticated waist for added comfort. Slim fitting straight leg using non stretch denim, they are ankle length. £69. MORE INFO
If you love a pair of skinny jeans, then Banana Republic offer a pair with stretch that come in three lengths. If you have got the figure, flaunt it – and I must admit, adding a pair of heels (instead of the super comfortable but ubiquitous flatties) does make for a sexy look. Intriguingly, these jeans are engineered with special technology to resist water, oil, and stains so you can wear white without the worry. MORE INFO

Back in the day I used to buy all my jeans from Gap. Good quality, fit and selection. Well I’ve revisited this old haunt of mine and found these vintage white paperbag jeans. Fantastic if you have a waist that you want to show off. They are slim through the hip and thigh and an 11″ rise that’s cut to hit above the hips. Don’t let the rubbish photograph put you off – they look so elegant, so St. Tropez. £58.46 MORE INFO
If, like me, you tend to wear plain colours, then these embroidered white Girlfriend jeans might appeal. From Boden in three different lengths, sizes 6 – 16. £85. Relaxed fit, mid-rise waist, sustainable cotton. MORE INFO
One final suggestion – have a look at the Stehmann Igor 680 pull on jeans at Artichoke Collection. Size 8 – 20, from £39. High waisted with a tapered leg and turn up, there is no zip to add to lumps and bumps around your tummy. They are super stretch (so you may want to consider going down a size), fit all shapes and sizes and feature a relatively slim leg. MORE INFO
