Job Description

Purpose

Provide the business with the key information it needs to support topline and bottomline performance. In addition to provide a strong control environment and achieve group timetables and deadlines.

Job Accountabilities

  • Consolidating the monthly management accounts and providing commentary on the performance for the period
  • Ownership for the day to day accounting for group holding companies
  • Help achieve month end timetables by providing support to the other finance teams, as well as pushing the delivery through regular contact
  • Delivery of ad-hoc internal information eg price inflation recovery, volume and value growth for key sectors, working capital analysis
  • Assist with the consolidation of new acquisitions, and the implementation of Group reporting by the new businesses
  • Ensure all balance sheets are reconciled in a timely manner and a cycle of continuous process and control improvement is driven through the finance function
  • Manage the external audit process acting as a facilitator between the auditors and other members of the finance team where required
  • Preparation of year-end statutory accounts, tax packs, VAT returns and other tax reports as required
  • Provide technical accounting advice to the business as required and actively participate in transformation projects including implementation of a new consolidation system to standardise and automate processes across the group

Education and qualifications

  • Qualified accountant, most suited to ACA or ACCA

Experience

  • Experience of delivering month and year end processes and reporting
  • Experience of performing or supporting external audit
  • Working knowledge of VAT, corporation tax and employment taxes
  • Ideally suit an individual that has qualified with a large audit firm
