Job Title: Advanced Apprentice Marine Electrician

Location: Glasgow

Salary: Starting from £18,018 with annual progression through the scheme duration.

What you will be doing:

As an Electrical Apprentice with a Marine discipline you will gain experience working from wiring diagrams, planned drawings and company procedures to install, terminate and test all electrical equipment developing high quality skills and techniques throughout in a hi-tech environment.

Specific activities could include:

This Apprenticeship covers a range of skills in the installation of electrical components and systems during ship construction i.e. main distribution boards, fire detection systems, main broadcasting systems, integrated platform management systems, combat/weapon systems, lighting systems & electrical appliances. There is approximately 60+ miles of cabling on a Type 26 vessel. Each cable end has to be terminated, tested and set to work. This extensive work in all areas of electrical and electro-mechanical installation also includes check-wire activities to ensure upon handover to the commissioning team that the systems were correct as per the schematics and completed to a professional standard.

All applicants must as a minimum achieve Baseline Personnel Security Standard. Many roles also require higher levels of National Security Vetting where applicants must typically have 5 to 10 years of continuous residency in the UK depending on the vetting level required for the role, to allow for meaningful security vetting checks.
