Outdoor Instructor - Duke Of Edinburgh (Seasonal)


Job Description

The Outdoor Instructor for the Duke of Edinburgh Award prepares and delivers a range of training and qualifying courses to both schools and Open Awards.

They support the D of E Co-ordinator with the organisation and preparation of courses and equipment and support the Course Director, who is responsible for the organisation of a team of staff to deliver the courses to a high standard. Courses will be delivered to young people therefore experience working with young people would be ideal. The role is based predominantly outside in all weather conditions and very hands on.

The Outdoor Instructor will be required to travel to various client sites. The role is full time and seasonal (March - October) and will require weekend work.

  • Planning and delivering quality outdoor educational sessions
  • Delivering a range of training and qualifying courses for Duke of Edinburgh at all levels
  • Supporting staff to ensure courses and they comply with all H&S requirements, Award regulations and local working practices
  • Preparing of equipment for courses, ensuring equipment is cleaned and kept in good condition
  • Working with young people and supporting them through the course

What we're looking for:

  • Have some experience working with young people
  • Good communication, organisation, and teamwork skills
  • Attention to detail is important
  • Hold updated First Aid and Safeguard Training (or complete upon successful selection)
  • Passionate in engaging in a range of outdoor activities
