UK Strategic Command Commercial is offering a unique opportunity to work in a high tempo operational environment based in UK, delivering professional and effective commercial contract services and support to the front line. Embedded within the MOD A Block (MAB) team your primary responsibility shall be to support MAB managing commercial aspects of their requirements.
Although some of the workload is programmed, the nature of MAB and the capability they deliver dictates that the post holder should expect to work in a dynamic and rapidly changing environment. You will need to often deliver pragmatic and swift commercial solutions to immediate, novel and often contentious needs, as we look to innovative or unconventional solutions.

You should already be working in a commercial environment, seeking to build on their existing skillset involving procurement, stakeholder management, contract negotiation and supplier management. Be a self-starter, who is confident with decision making and is able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Good communication skills are paramount as you will need to initiate, develop and maintain effective relationships with possibly the broadest range of stakeholders and enablers in Defence, working closely with project and military colleagues to deliver innovative commercial solutions whilst managing a range of stakeholders in the commercial process within the MOD, Other Government Departments and Industry, including input into Frameworks.
You must have the ability to manage competing priorities, assess information rapidly, seek clarity or additional information where necessary and articulate needs or processes in a way that is understood by the diverse stakeholder audience, bearing in mind that often such audiences have very limited or no procurement and/or requirement setting experience.
Line management responsibilities for members of staff where appropriate, encouraging training and development ensuring they are given the opportunity to broaden their commercial and broader skills.
The role requires regular travel and working from unit locations. This post will have a high degree of face-to-face discussions with military and industry.
