Do you have the passion, values, and ability to help us solve the biggest problems of the justice system?Cross-Cutting Performance Lead Analyst, SEO, Analysis Directorate, Ministry of Justice OverviewWe have one role in the HMPPS Performance Unit (part of the Prison, Probation and Reoffending Data & Statistics Division) within the Analysis Directorate.Roles are open to: Existing analysts from all professions (GORS/GSS/GSR/GES) either on level transfer or on promotion.Other candidates that are not members of GSS, GORS, GSR, GES professions but possess and can demonstrate similar experience at the appropriate level. Badging opportunities will be available once in post for those who wish to apply.Specialist allowanceDue to the role(s) being analytical, those successful in recruitment will be eligible for a specialist allowance following an analytical interview based on the following values: SEO London: 500 SEO National: 1500 Minimum requirements to apply:Candidates must be able to show the relevant experience and skills and must meet the criteria for entry:SEO grade:You have significant work experience (usually a minimum of three years) evidencing use of data and/or analytical skills. Time spent on an analytical PhD can count towards this.We welcome applications from candidates based across the UK. What youll do The postholder will lead the delivery and development of offender accommodation and employment data and measures. These report a high-profile area for the department with evidence showing these as key drivers in reducing reoffending. You will work closely with policy colleagues, operational colleagues up to Director General and as well as colleagues in the analysis directorate to provide expertise on the data. Through utilising the automated processes, you will get the opportunity to develop coding skills in R.You will also provide wider support to the Cross-Cutting Performance Team, overseeing work on Unpaid Work and sentence management, supporting delivering of the HMPPS Annual Report and help maintain the HMPPS Performance Portal. Within this role, you will line manage 1 HEO member of staff.Additionally, you will lead the delivery of the Offender Accommodation Outcomes and Offender Employment Outcomes Official Statistics and consider ways to expand and improve both publications.4. Who you areThe following experience and skills will be required:Good interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with both policy and operational stakeholders and partners to drive work forward. Excellent written and oral communication and with the ability to explain data and analytical concepts and practices to non-technical stakeholders, discussing analytical options and making recommendations.Strong analytical leadership abilities, and in particular robust data skills and good working knowledge of quantitative and qualitative methodologies.Good organisational skills, with the ability to plan your time out, deliver at pace, manage competing priorities, and ensure deadlines are met.Strong skills in using Microsoft Excel.The following experience and skills are desirable:Knowledge and practical experience of the Code of Practice for Statistics and applying it to the production of Official Statistics.Coding experience, particularly in R and experience of working on the Analytical Platform.Experience of presenting to stakeholders, preferably of analysis.Experience of managing and developing others, prioritising and delegating tasks in line with organisational objectives5. Selection Process There will be an initial sift of applicants through comparing submitted evidence against the Who you are bullets. This usually takes two weeks, depending on the number of applications.Those who make it through the initial sift will be invited to a Civil Service Success Profile interview. We will be using a mixture of methods to assess your abilities, strengths, experience, technical skills, and behaviours.
