Defence Project Delivery Adviser, Infrastructure and Projects Authority

You will play a key role in achieving this critical mission. You will lead IPA challenge and support to a number of Defence/security projects, programmes and departments. You will also enable and support appropriate capability development, system learning and assurance. This includes projects and programmes that form part of, or are candidates for, the Government Major Project Portfolio (GMPP). A deep knowledge of project, programme and portfolio leadership and management (Project Delivery (PD)) is essential, along with the emotional intelligence required to build strong, trusting relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders at all levels, across Defence and central Government. Proven experience as a Project Delivery Professional and/or Transformation Consultant in Defence, Security and large-scale complex projects or programmes is highly desirable, as is Developed Vetting security status (DV).Key responsibilities will include:Leading the delivery challenge and support across a significant part of the Governments portfolio working with your Departments and project typesLeading stakeholders to build and maintain the assurance and approvals framework for your area of responsibility, engaging with Cabinet Office and HM Treasury to align perspectives, as well as controls, in the interests of successful delivery; representing IPA on HM Treasury Approval PanelsTaking shared leadership for meeting key performance indicators and assisting Departments to deliver their Spending Review commitmentsBuilding and cultivating strong, trusted relationships with senior stakeholders (e.g. Director Generals, Senior Responsible Owners, Programme Directors)Creating strong networks at the heart of government including other Functions and with HM TreasuryBeing a source of knowledge and expertise not only on project delivery but on your programmes, briefing and advising at the most senior level on programme health and deliverabilityLeading on elements of the strategic engagement between IPA and wider government
