Job/Person Summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic, energetic caretaker to become part of our school team. The role requires someone with flexibility, good organisational skills, initiative, able to work as part of a team and a good sense of humour! They will need to be able to work independently and take responsibility for the school site, keeping the building safe, secure and clean. They must be willing to attend training and develop their professional skills.

This role is for 25 hours per week, 52 weeks per year. Ideally, we would like each day as a split shift working from 7-9.30am and then 3.30-6pm however, this is open to negotiation upon appointment. Annual leave is to be negotiated and taken during school holidays where possible.

The successful candidate will:

  • Support the safe and efficient running of the school
  • Responsibility for site security including daily opening and closing of the school as well as outside of normal school hours for school events if required
  • As a key holder, attend emergency call outs where necessary
  • Regular checking and record keeping of Health and Safety procedures including fire safety, COSHH, legionella etc
  • Undertaking general DIY and repairs to the school, property and premises
  • Liaising with other professionals and managing programmes of planned and preventative maintenance
  • Monitoring the highest standards of cleanliness throughout the school undertaking ad hoc cleaning tasks as required and liaising with the contract cleaning staff
  • Monitoring cleaning stock and ordering supplies

Induction and training will be supported by Caretaking Services.
