An exciting opportunity for someone with an interest in, the highways and transport sector and local government. The successful applicant will undertake transactional finance activities along with collating and analysing performance data and providing general administrative support and advice for Midlands Highway Alliance Plus (MHA+); working with the MHA+ team to deliver the key objective of supporting 25% of England's local highway authorities to provide effective, efficient, innovative, and sustainable highways services.

About the Role

You will provide a central point of expertise and advice for Oracle Fusion, iProcurement and general financial matters, undertaking a range of transactional finance activities (e.g., raising purchase orders, debtor invoices etc.) and providing support on the financial end of year closure of the accounts.

You will produce summaries and analyses of information involving the collation and manipulation of data and the creation of reports as required based on the data entry of supplier framework information such as, but not limited to, project financial data and 360 scorecards for performance.

You will provide general administrative support to the team as required by the MHA+ Manager, including organizing and attending a variety of meetings and events; taking accurate minutes; taking appropriate action to record, track, progress and prioritise work; responding to telephone calls, emails and other enquiries to provide a high level of customer care; managing information securely; researching, collating, disseminating and filing material and assisting the departmental business support service across the wider department.

You will enjoy working with diverse customers and priorities, maintaining positive and co-operative working relationships within the team with local authority customers and colleagues across the County Council, MHA+ membership and the industry.

You will have the skills to ensure activities are delivered in the most efficient and effective manner possible, making a positive difference to the efficiency of our services.

In return, you will gain an insight into the work of MHA+ and the department as well as gain experience in working collaboratively with local highway authorities, contractors, consultants and industry partners at every level and get involved in delivering interesting and innovative projects and events.

About You

To apply for this post, you must have:

  • Excellent organisational skills with accuracy and attention to detail and the ability to prioritise work within tight timescales whilst working under pressure.
  • The ability to respond confidently to customers and colleagues whilst maintaining an objective and professional stance.
  • The ability to work as part of a team and to build and maintain positive and cooperative working relationships with customers and colleagues.
  • Excellent IT skills (including Microsoft excel).
