Chapter Lead - Front End Software Engineering (Loans Lab)

London - Were happy with home working the majority of the time, however, youll need to be in office at least 1 day per week under your own cost.

Salary & Benefits: £81,928 to £102,410 per annum (location dependent), plus annual personal bonus, 15% employer pension contribution, 4% flexible cash pot, private medical insurance, 30 days holiday plus bank holidays.

Who are Lloyds Banking Group and where does this role sit?

Lloyds Banking Group is the UK's leading Digital Bank and biggest mobile bank with nearly 14 million active online customers across our three brands.

The Loans Lab Engineering Team create software within a web-based Internet Banking system deployed across web, mobile and tablet. As the Front-End Chapter Lead in the team, youll be responsible for creating software, the line management for a number of Software Engineers and the responsibility to drive improvements and excellence in the discipline of front-end software engineering.

Youll primarily be building front-end applications using React, Redux, Typescript, HTML and CSS. The role leads a team of Front-End Software Engineers and works with Back End Engineers, Quality Engineers and DevOps Engineers in a highly collaborative way to design, build, support and improve our front-end software working closely with the Product teams.

Specific activities which youll be responsible for include things like;

  • Drive the success of your Chapter and the front-end software engineering discipline

  • Provide line management for other software engineers

  • Participate in the full software development lifecycle to design, build, test, deploy and support digital systems

  • Work hands-on to deliver the highest quality software

  • Work in and across feature teams delivering exciting customer driven solutions

  • Collaborate with the Product team to implement credit card banking products

What do we need to see from applicants?

  • In depth experience of leading software engineers and driving technology improvements.

  • Passion for coaching other engineers and building a strong team culture

  • A team-player who can build relationships and work productively with others across a variety of domains and disciplines.

  • Proven experience in hands-on software engineering using a broad range of technologies including those listed below.

  • React, Redux, JavaScript, HTML, CSS

  • CI/CD/DevOps tooling experience e.g., GIT, Cypress, JUnit etc.

  • Web based application development

  • Agile experience and excellent problem-solving skills
