Overview

Sheffield Teaching Hospitals, a member of the Shelford Group collaboration, is one of the largest and busiest NHS teaching and research hospitals in England. We provide a comprehensive range of services from community care for local populations, to highly specialised tertiary services for patients nationwide. The 10 NHS Trusts in the Shelford Group collaboration collectively account for approximately two-thirds of the country’s clinical research infrastructure.

In support of our growing research portfolio, we have recently obtained additional investment to further enhance our high-performing pharmacy clinical trials team. The initial focus of the post will be collaboration with researchers and pharmacy colleagues to speed the delivery of clinical trials protocols from initial proposal to “live” and recruiting patients. The post holder will also support implementation of protocol amendments as trials develop and ensure that all clinical trials activity is appropriately recorded on the Trust’s Research Management System.

The post holder will provide a key link between the pharmacy clinical trials team, clinicians and researchers, the Trust R&D directorate and the local research network. You should have a postgraduate diploma in clinical pharmacy, equivalent postgraduate diploma or post registration clinical experience. Clinical experience in oncology and/or haematology would be an advantage, but is not essential for the right candidate with a good understanding of GCP and clinical trials delivery.

As part of the recruitment process at application stage, Sheffield Teaching Hospitals will assess applicants’ individual values and behaviours to ensure that these behaviours align with our PROUD values: Patient First, Respectful, Ownership, Unity and Deliver.
