On the 1st October 2019, we opened an Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC) at Clacton Hospital, expanding the existing Minor Injuries Unit.
We are looking for Advanced Nurse Practitioners / Advanced Paramedic Practitioners (Band 7) – Band 6 Development posts. The service is part of a network of emerging UTCs within North East Essex, with a UTC also being based at Colchester General Hospital, and a Minor Injuries Unit at Harwich Hospital.
The Clacton UTC offers:
12 hours per day service triaging patients to the right service, at the right time in the right place and offering treatment for both minor illness and injuries.
Satellite Minor Injuries Service at Harwich Hospital
- Nurse managed care with GP clinical leadership
- Undertake relevant diagnostics
- Pre-bookable appointments through NHS 111 as well as walk in-appointments
- Provision of direct pathways into acute services
- Support to the Colchester AMSDEC for same day acute medical urgent care

You will be supported with relevant training and education
You will be a qualified and experienced practitioner with skills in either (or both):
Minor injury – incl. X-ray interpretation, suturing, and management of complex wounds and injury skills.
Minor illness – including common minor illness
Competent in autonomous assessment, examination, diagnosis and treatment
- Autonomous practice qualification.
- Prescribing qualification or working towards
For the Band 6 development post you should possess experience in a relevant area of urgent care or primary care and will be supported to achieve Band 7 competencies
