On ward 4 we believe that every single member of the team that works with us, plays a vital part in providing the highest possible levels of patient care.

We are looking for an Assistant Practitioner who has a passion for providing high quality patient focused care for our plastic surgery & burns injured patients; who has a flexible attitude towards work and a desire for new challenges. You will gain valuable experience in pre and post-operative care, management of minor burns and specialized wound care. The successful post holder will develop wound assessment knowledge and wound care management skills including Burns Care. These skills are transferable to any area of your nursing career. General duties are pre & post operative care, physiological observations, wound assessment and subsequent management. The management of traumatic injuries to hands and limbs. You will also care for patients undergoing breast surgery and develop your knowledge of skin cancers & treatments. Skin manipulation is a key part of Plastic surgery, such as skin grafting and Flap repairs, of which you will develop the knowledge and skills to care for these patients enabling you to offer advice and guidance to them.

The ideal candidate should possess, good communication and interpersonal skills, be flexible, able to use their own initiative and be able to work in a team and on their own. Demonstrating first-rate patient care, to ensure our patients and families and receive an overall excellent, patient experience.

A flexible approach and the ability to respond to the demands of a rapidly changing acute clinical environment are essential. In return we can offer you a structured induction program. You will have the support of a preceptor, a dedicated Ward Manager, Ward Sisters and Specialist Nurses. You will receive a supernumerary period on commencement in the role, gaining essential knowledge and skills required to care for patients in the Plastic Surgery & Burns specialty department.
