County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust invite applications or the position of Theatre Practitioner for our sites at the University Hospital of North Durham and Darlington Memorial Hospital

Our operating Theatres are based on 4 hospital sites, 2 of those sites provide acute services for multiple specialities. Our modern theatre environments have been recently refurbished and extended in order to provide integrated laparoscopic theatres at Darlington and an increased laminar flow capacity to support a proposed Centre of Excellence for Arthroplasty at Bishop Auckland. There are further plans to improve facilities to have an integrated laparoscopic theatre at Durham, all of which will future proof the departments and enhance the perioperative experience for patients and staff.

The Theatre team work in partnership with the Day Surgery Units and the ward areas to ensure a positive experience for the patients within our care. The team are proud of the collaboration with all members of the multidisciplinary team, and continually take the opportunity to improve and develop within the perioperative environment. There is currently a focus on efficiency, safety and quality to deliver an outstanding service to meet the needs of our patient population.

Our Theatre team are friendly and supportive, encouraging professional development to enhance skills and professional competence. The departmental Practice Development team, in coordination with the Theatre Management team, support the staff members to identify and realise areas for career progression, both on an individual basis and also as a team approach to achieving their highest potential.
