We are looking for an experienced Children’s Well-being Practitioner (CWP) who wishes to join an exciting new school based service – Mental Health Support Teams (MHSTs).

The post-holder will work within the newly formed HPFT Mental Health Support Team (MHST) based in St Albans. This is a 12 month fixed term post and will involve working alongside qualified and ‘in training’ Educational Mental Health Practitioners (EMHPs). The EMHP training has many similarities to the CWP course which the post-holder will have successfully completed. The new service will provide early interventions to children experiencing mild to moderate mental health concerns in an educational setting. In summary the role requires the post holder to:

Provide interventions such as CBT based support, solution focussed work, guided self-help and group support to children and young people within an educational setting.

  • Enhance emotional wellbeing and to promote or build resilience in children and young people through educational workshops, assemblies and PSHE lessons.
  • Deliver psycho education and support to parents/carers and teachers.
  • Any other duties commensurate with the grade which may be required to enable effective and efficient running of the service.

The Mental Health Support Teams will run year round, providing support to young people during school holidays in addition to term time. The core hours will be Monday – Friday 9-5 but some work (facilitation of group work/workshops) may be required outside of these times

The post-holder will work with people of different cultural backgrounds and ages, using interpreters when necessary and should be committed to equal opportunities.

This post affords opportunity for involvement in, and contribution to service development.
