Job Description

We are looking for 2 motivated and inspiring Clinical Lead’s to join the leadership team within CNTW Newcastle and Gateshead Children and Young People’s Service. The posts are within the Neurodevelopmental Pathway, one being the clinical lead in the neurodevelopmental assessment service and one clinical lead in the post diagnostic neurodevelopmental service. It is essential that both clinical leads will work closely together and be fluid across pathways to ensure a seamless transition between pathways.

The roles will compliment that of other Clinical Leads and the wider team. The focus will be on developing competencies in practice and upskilling staff, clinical supervision of staff and identifying areas for quality improvement. You will work alongside the leadership team to embed changes in the team and supporting staff through this.

As a Clinical Lead your role is very important in providing dedicated clinical leadership of the clinical team to deliver a high quality service.

You will form links and develop relationships with internal and external stakeholders to contribute to delivery of local and national guidance.

Aspects to the role of the clinical lead in the assessment pathway is the direct delivery of clinical care. We are looking for a skilled and motivated clinician who consistently endeavours to model a high standard of professional practice. We expect the successful applicant to role-model the efficient, safe and robust practice that they champion in training delivered to the team. The post holder will be responsible for making key contributions to assessment and formulation of complex presentations, exploring possible neurodevelopmental vulnerabilities and/or disorder as well as thoroughly considering wider factors and comorbidity. Our assessments provide thorough profiling of young people’s strengths, needs and difficulties helping to ensure that they have access to the most appropriate understanding and supports as they develop and grow. We are looking for a clinician who has significant experience alongside well developed neurodevelopmental assessment skills and who is able to put the young person and their family at the centre of every assessment.

The post holder for the clinical lead position in the post diagnostic neurodevelopmental pathway would support the post diagnostic Multidisciplinary team in the initiation an stabilisation of medication for children and young people. The successful applicant will be expected to work closely with the NMP and psychiatrists in ensuring safe, effective care and treatment and to support a smooth transition to adult services. The clinical lead would be expected to work collaboratively with external agencies.

We are looking for the post holder to bring extensive knowledge and expertise in relation to assessment of neurodevelopmental disorder and commonly occurring conditions, together with a passion for supporting the personal and professional development of multidisciplinary colleagues. Experience of providing supervision and mentorship to clinicians at different stages of their careers would be an advantage. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to develop resources to support the team are essential.
