Band 7 Clinical Site Practitioner.

This really is an amazing opportunity for anyone who may have ambitions of working in senior management in the future. This will give you first-hand experience in bed management; major incident and business continuity management; staffing and troubleshooting; administering expert clinical interventions across the Trust and gain experience in Emergency Department pathways. You will gain an insight into the elective surgical patient flow as well as the general emergency patient flow. Sitting within the Operational Directorate, you will gain a corporate view of hospital management.

As a band 7 on the site team at Darent Valley, you will take a leading role in the co-ordination of all site services and in all major incidents, business continuity and critical incidents under the supervision of a clinical site manager. You will occasionally be asked to step into the clinical site manager’s role in times unplanned absence where you will chair the daily safety and capacity meetings ensuring the senior colleagues you work with are fully briefed on all aspects of patient flow throughout the hospital. You will lead on projects within the team involving the development of team staff and team services.

You will liaise with all levels of staff both externally and internally so excellent communication skills are essential. You will need clear decisive abilities and be able to rationalise all decisions you make autonomously. You will be computer literate and have the ability to keep calm in a crisis. You will need to be a confident individual with the ability to work mainly as a team player but be able to make decisions on your own.

You will be required to work long days and nights as well as weekends, some flexibility with shifts can be considered.

The successful candidate will be currently a band 6 or 7 either on an acute ward or acute care department. You will be supported by a team of expert band 8a’s and experienced band 7’s as well as myself. You will need to have strong leadership skills and the ability to negotiate with all levels of clinical staff, patients, visitors, police, ambulance, mental health colleagues, primary care and tertiary care. You need to have a broad knowledge of nationally expected targets and have the ability to apply these into practice. You need to have excellent supervisory skills and advanced clinical skills such as cannulation, male catheterisation, and high dependency course and be able to demonstrate post basic training in a speciality of your choice.

During your interview, you must demonstrate how you have lead on an element of service improvement and demonstrate your excellent communication skills.
