Applications are invited for a full time Consultant Occupational Physician post. This is to replace the current physician who is due to retire in May 2021.

The Consultant Occupational Health Physician will work within our team and be based at the Kent and Canterbury hospital in the historic city of Canterbury set in the garden of England. It will involve cross site travel to our other sites at Margate and Ashford to operate clinical and leadership duties. This job role offers a great opportunity to influence strategy and service development, as well as providing clinical and operational leadership as part of our senior OH & Wellbeing team.

The multi-disciplinary department is committed to achieving and sustaining high quality services, and has been SEQOHS accredited since 2013. The post offers excellent experience in providing occupational health & wellbeing services to NHS staff, and external clients including educational, local authority and small & medium sized enterprises.

The successful applicants will have up to date knowledge of best evidence-based practice in occupational medicine and legal requirements. Providing a lead in teaching and clinical supervision is required and there will be the opportunity to develop research interests. You will be expected to participate in continuing professional development and we embrace learning and development, provide supportive working environments and support the vision to be a ‘great place to work’.

The Trust currently hosts medical students on attachment from GKT, UCL and Imperial Medical Schools. The new Kent & Medway Medical School is opening to 1st year students in Autumn 2020. This opens up opportunities for OH teaching and integration into the students experiences locally, as well as clinical placements throughout the Trust.

Applicants should have established skills in Occupational Medicine and should possess MFOM/FFOM (or equivalent) and be included on the Specialist Register.
