Consultant Medical Oncologist with expertise in Colorectal & Lung Cancer
The Oncology team at NUH are looking for a new colleague to join their internationally renowned, forward thinking service. We are keen to appoint a substantive consultant medical oncologist with an active interest in Colorectal and Lung Cancer to join our team of 29 consultant oncologists.
The post will be based at the City Campus in Nottingham, and the post holder will lead on their sub-speciality interest at King’s Mill Hospital. The successful candidate will join our well established and close working multi-disciplinary team of Consultants, Clinical Nurse Specialists, Advanced Pharmacy Practitioners, Ward and Day Case colleagues.
As well as offering a varied and stimulating workload, this role can also cater to individual interests such as teaching, educational supervision, research and leadership roles within the specialty. The appointment will be offered additional SPA reflecting our commitment to the personal and professional development of the post holder. A competitive relocation package may be available.
The specialty serves a resident population of 1.1 million and currently sees approximately 5,000 new patients each year (at City Hospital and Kingsmill); providing a comprehensive range of non-surgical oncology services to the East Midlands.
The Oncology consultant team of 9 medical oncology and 20 clinical consultants provide site specialist care in multi-disciplinary teams. There is an established Medical Oncology Higher Specialist Training programme (5 posts), a highly successful Academic training programme (ACFs & ACLs) and a Clinical Oncology programme (9 posts). There are 7 F1s, 1 F2s, 3 ST1/2 and 10 higher grade trainees as part of the East Midlands Healthcare Workforce Deanery (North) training rotations.
The Department has a very active clinical trials programme with a dedicated research team for academic, NIHR CRN and industry lead studies as well as integral working with the CRN research team.
NUH has three sites – Queen’s Medical Centre (QMC), Nottingham City Hospital and Ropewalk House. We provide general hospital services to the 2.5 million residents of Nottingham and its surrounding communities and specialist services to a further 3-4 million across the region.
