Applications are invited for a substantive or fixed term Consultant Medical Oncologist at Yeovil District Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will join a friendly, enthusiastic and innovative team, working with two other Medical Oncologists who together with visiting Consultant colleagues from neighbouring Musgrove Park Hospital in Taunton, will work with an exceptional team of nurses and allied health professionals to deliver the very best care to our community.

We are seeking a full time (10 PA) candidate to provide Oncology services in at least 3 tumour sites, including 2.5 SPA within the job plan for personal and professional development. The role will include provision of outpatient clinics, attendance at relevant MDTs and Acute Oncology ward rounds. We are looking in particular for someone with specialty interests in Lung, Urology, Upper GI, Gynaecology, Breast or leadership of the well-established Acute Oncology Service (attracting 1 PA within the job plan) and 3 ward rounds per week.

There will be no on-call commitment, as out of hours advice is provided by on-call Consultant colleagues in Taunton. The post-holder will experience significant professional and governance peer support from The Beacon Centre at Musgrove Park Hospital enjoying all the benefits of close working with our nearby regional cancer centre, including joint Consultant meetings.

Applicants must have MBBS and MRCP qualifications or equivalent and be fully registered with the GMC and hold a licence to practise. Applicants must have entry on the GMC Specialist Register for Medical or Clinical Oncology via CCT (proposed CCT date must be within six months of the interview date), CESR or European Community Rights. Consideration will be given to candidates without entry on the GMC Specialist Register on a fixed term basis providing relevant experience at consultant level. Support will be provided to Candidates to achieve CSER).
