There are over 270,000 under 25 year olds living within the City and with an estimated 15% having special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). The city has significant health inequalities between those living in our most affluent neighbourhoods and the poorest.

We are now looking to appoint a Designated Clinical Officer (DCO) to build on the progress made in delivering the requirements of the Children and Families Act and with a focus on reducing the inequalities experienced by children and young people with SEND.

The DCO whilst being employed by Leeds Community Healthcare Trust will have a leading role in coordinating the response of the whole health economy in Leeds in the provision of services to children and young people with SEND.

The post holder will need to work collaboratively with parents, carers, children and young people and all associated statutory, voluntary and third sector service providers. The relationship with the Leeds City Council is key in ensuring health responsibilities within the Children and Families Act are met and outcomes for children and young people with Special Educational Needs are achieved. You will be a qualified clinician with professional registration for example HCPC, NMC or SWE.
