Dietetic Support Worker, Band 4

Based at Darent Valley Hospital

18.75 hours per week

Job Summary

  • We need an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our friendly team, as a Dietetic Support Worker, to work within the Dietetic team, based at Darent Valley Hospital
  • To provide clinical support on the wards to the Dietitians in; nutritional assessment, reviewing patients, planning provision of special diets, educating patients/staff.
  • To use a computer package to assess patients diet as requested

About Our Department

  • The aim of the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics is to provide a high quality and evidence based Nutrition and Dietetic service, using clinical, educational, management and secretarial expertise.
  • You will be part of the wider Nutrition & Dietetics Department, which currently has 25 Dietitians, 4 Dietetic Support Workers and good secretarial support.
  • We provide a comprehensive and seamless nutrition and dietetic service across acute and community settings in Dartford , Gravesham & Swanley (with an outpatient dietetic service at Queen Mary’s Hospital).
  • We are involved in student dietetic training (A, B and C placements), through links with the University of Surrey and involvement in the delivery of these placements will be a key part of this job.
  • We are committed to staff training and continuous professional development, providing in-house and external courses and training opportunities

About You

  • Good communication skills
  • An interest in food and its nutritional content is essential
  • Good computer skills
  • Some experience in food provision to care homes/schools/hospitals

Posts based at the Queen Mary’s site will receive 15% outer London allowance and 5% fringe allowance for posts based at Darent Valley Hospital on top of basic salary.
