Job Description

GENERAL- To be responsible for the effective cleaning and maintenance of all hygiene standards across all in patient and community units throughout the Trust.- To be responsible for utilising safely mechanical and electrical cleaning equipment following appropriate training as required to meet the above.- To provide specialist cleaning (barrier/isolation) as required.- To provide a deep cleaning programme to all areas within the ward/department & community units. This will include steam cleaning of all sanitary and kitchen areas.- To respond quickly to any demands of infection control outbreaks.- To be responsible for the cleaning and maintenance of the cleaning equipment that is carried in the vehicle.- To Maintain the Trust Vehicle and report any faults/problems that may arise.- Responsible for the safe storage and maintenance of appropriate stock and supplies- Responsible for undertaking relevant courses and qualifications to assist in gaining knowledge to improve NHS standards.- To undertake thorough training in infection control Procedures. INDIVIDUAL- Responsible for engaging in the Trust appraisal process, that identifies your own personal development and training needs.- Responsible for ensuring confidentiality is maintained at all times in accordance with the data protection act trust policy and good practice.- Responsible for maintaining and conducting oneself in a professional manner towards colleagues and other agencies.- To assist in the introduction of new staff under the guidance and advice of the Domestic Supervisor.- Responsible for reading, understanding and complying with all relevant departmental/trust and statutory policies and procedures.- Responsible for ensuring that they contribute and work towards the service/organisational aims and objectives.- To undertake any adhoc duties as required by the Domestic Supervisor commensurate with the grade of the post i.e. changing of cubicle/window curtain blinds.- It is everyones responsibility to be aware of infection control procedures and to carry out relevant training.- Every member of staff has a responsibility to be aware of and follow at all times, the relevant national and local policy in relation to the safeguarding of children, the safeguarding of vulnerable adults and the control of infection.
