Hywel Dda University Health Board Early Intervention Psychosis team is looking for two Band 3 Health Care Support Workers to join our established EIP service.
As a HCSW you will be working alongside qualified practitioners from CPN, SW and OT in the assertive management of the individuals, you will be working under the direction of clients identified by qualified team members in helping deliver care to individuals who are suffering from enduring mental health problems, and helping them in activities of daily living to help them manage their mental health and allow them to function within their homes, families and within their communities. The HCSW role be determined by Qualified staff identifying individuals who will benefit from increased support enabling them to fulfil all activities of daily living, attend appointments and in the management of their physical health and wellbeing. Hywel Dda UHB constitutes the three counties of Ceredigion, Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire in South West Wales and as such we are looking to expand our team of HCSW to provide this service throughout the Health board’s footprint.
The EIP team works with individuals identified with First Episode Psychosis and meeting the criteria for EIP services as result of diagnosis of psychotic symptoms or deemed as ARMS (At Risk mental state) within our service we currently provide support to 14-25 year olds, with plans to be developed to extend our age group to 35 and ultimately 65 yrs. Our client group will therefore be recognised as those experiencing First Episode of Psychosis within these extended age ranges.
We are looking for staff able to offer support under the principles of the Mental health measure and in accordance with an individual’s care and treatment plan. The successful applicant with be supporting individuals in relation to using medication, developing a physical health monitoring network alongside qualified members of staff and our Prescribing pharmacist,. They will also liaise with the wider MDT and through our third sector partners. We are looking for self-directed individuals with experience of working within community mental health settings, able to work independently but also as part of team supporting colleagues, clients and their families throughout the health board Area.
Mental health services are developing throughout Hywel Dda UHB and EIP services are at the fore front of many of the planned developments of the transforming mental health programme. Hywel Dda UHB is committed to developing staff practice and as such is able to provide opportunities for CPD development.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
