Main duties of the job

This vital work would not be possible without our dedicated Fundraising Team! Rainbows receives just seven weeks of government funding annually, and it is through the relentless efforts of our fundraisers that were able to remain open for the remaining 45 weeks each year. As part of the expansion of our Fundraising Team, were excited to announce an opportunity for an Events Coordinator to join us!

Here at Rainbows Childrens Hospice, we provide specialist palliative care and end-of-life support to over 750 babies, children, and young people living with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions. We also support approximately 3,000 people, including families, siblings, and carers, across the East Midlands. Simply put, were here to brighten short lives and support families wherever they are.

Job responsibilities

Working Hours and Location: This is a full-time role (37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday) based at our Hospice in Lark Rise, Loughborough. Free Tea, Coffee and Fruit whilst at the Hospice Free access to Health Assured employee assistance programme Wellbeing support and access to Mental Health First Aiders Unofficial benefits: Opportunity to take part in fun events such as Its A Knockout, attend all staff away days, meet special guest visitors to the hospice About the role As our Events Coordinator, you will support the Senior Events Officer to delivering fundraising and awareness-raising events ranging from our Derby Cathedral Abseil, Fire Walk, and Skydive to Golf Days and the Rainbows Open Day. These events aim to maximize income, participation, and engagement to support Rainbows babies, children, young people, and families. Key Responsibilities include: Event Organisation: Plan and execute a range of events to meet or exceed income and engagement targets, while carefully managing expenditure to achieve return on investment (ROI) targets. Cross-department and Third-Party Collaboration: Contribute to the delivery of Rainbows-hosted and third-party events, coordinating with suppliers, colleagues, and volunteers to ensure income is maximised, expenses are minimised, and budgets are met. Financial and KPI Management: Maintain accurate financial and key performance indicator (KPI) records for events, supporting the Senior Events Officer in generating detailed reports as required. Supporter Stewardship: Provide multiple engaging supporter experience journeys to event participants to ensure they have all the necessary information and are supported in their fundraising. Marketing and Promotion Support: Assist in promoting events by collaborating with the Marketing, Corporate and Community Fundraising teams to ensure participation targets are achieved. Risk Management: Conduct comprehensive event risk assessments and implement plans to mitigate and manage identified risks, escalating concerns to the Senior Events Officer when necessary. About You To be successful in this role, you will need: Experience in planning and organising events. Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage conflicting priorities to meet objectives. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and using a CRM database. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal. Exceptional attention to detail and administrative expertise. A valid UK driving license and willingness to travel within the region as needed. Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required.   • Ability to safely lift, move, and set up equipment for Rainbows events, in accordance with Manual Handling Training and guidelines.
