QE Facilities (QEF) is a wholly owned subsidiary company of Gateshead Health NHS Foundation Trust (GHNT), based in the North East of England.

We provide a range of non- clinical services to GHNT and other NHS organisations. Our services include: estates, facilities services, procurement, medical engineering and devices, endoscopy decontamination and sterile services, transport, out-patient pharmacy, and prevention & management of violence & aggression training (PMVA). In addition we provide consultancy services, advising clients on all aspects of establishing a subsidiary company within an NHS body to the provision of VAT compliance advice.

This is an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to lead the delivery of fire safety advice to an NHS Trust based in Gateshead. As part of the Company’s Risk Management team & working alongside the Estates team based at Gateshead, you will be responsible for delivering all practical elements of the Trust’s fire management strategy and engaging with all key stakeholders to ensure fire safety is high on the operational agenda. In addition to this you will oversee and co-ordinate all training activity required to ensure the Trust and QEF are compliant.

 

As Duty Holder for fire safety you will ensure the Trust and QEF meets all the legal requirements placed upon it under the Fire Regulatory Reform Order and Health technical Memorandums HTM’s and put standards in place as a reference for all staff.

 

You will be QEF fire compliance subject matter expert for this contract and together with our Fire Safety Officer based in Darlington be the point of reference across QEF sites. You will ensure an effective management systems are in place, as well as audit and oversee corrective actions.

 

As the key point of contact for the Trust when liaising with external authorities and agencies you will work collaboratively with our Procurement and Maintenance teams, developing an effective communication system that keeps all staff up to date with current policies and procedures.

Key elements of the role include: fire safety inspections of all facilities, addressing or escalating these violations; adhere to laws and policies including the issue of hot works permits; management of fire equipment maintenance; provision of, Induction, education and training to all QEF & Trust staff members

The safety of patients, visitors, customers and staff will be your priority. An engaging communicator who always acts with integrity and understanding of others is vital. You will be a member of a relevant professional body / institute, NEBOSH fire certificate qualified, experience of delivering fire safety across a diverse, multi-site environment & possess a solid knowledge of fire safety codes and regulations, preventative measures, maintenance of building safety standards, plus the creation and implementation of safety policies and training.
