We at the Isle of Wight Integrated Care Hub are seeking to recruit Generic Call Handlers to answer our NHS 111 calls for our Integrated Care Hub, based in St Mary’s Hospital, Newport, Isle of Wight. This role is a in a busy, patient focused environment, handling calls from members of the public regarding urgent/emergency health problems.

A large part of your role will be to effectively utilize NHS Pathways Triage software to provide the caller with an appropriate response to urgent healthcare needs within a timeframe, so you could be dispatching an ambulance or booking a GP appointment.

It is a challenging yet very rewarding role, and no shift is the same.

Initially you will be trained to work as a 111 call handler, in order to do this you will be required to complete a six week fulltime training course in NHS Pathways. This covers full training in our systems and then supports coaching in the Integrated Care Hub environment. You will be supported in the call centre by Quality Assurance Team, Team Leaders, Clinical Advisors and Hub Managers.

Working pattern:

We are offering full and part time positions initially on a 6 month fixed term basis, the role is 24 hours a day, 7 days a week mostly 12 hour day and night shifts.

All staff will be expected to work Bank Holidays (inc Christmas, Easter etc).

Please note that you must be at least 18 years of age to apply for this role. This restriction is in place due to the night shift working required for this role.

Please note that in order to be considered for this role you will need to be able to commit to a full time 6 week call handling and software assessment training course. These courses are usually held at St Mary’s Hospital..

This role will attract an unsocial hours allowance
