Highly Specialised Paediatric Respiratory Physiotherapist: Paediatric Critical Care

Due to new funding, we are delighted to advertise the position of ‘Highly Specialised Paediatric Respiratory Physiotherapist in Paediatric Critical Care’ based at St George’s Hospital, London.

This post holder will join a growing team of Paediatric Respiratory and Acute Paediatric Physiotherapists. They will be responsible for contributing to the ongoing development of Paediatric Respiratory Physiotherapy services to Paediatric Critical Care.

The post holder will be expected to have a high level of clinical skill and be able to work in the following clinical areas:

  • Paediatric Critical Care
  • Paediatric Wards
  • Neonates

The role will require you to be confident in the assessment and treatment of intubated and ventilated critically unwell children, the use of invasive and non-invasive treatment modalities (including mechanical in-exsufflation) and have advanced tracheostomy skills.

The post holder will work closely with Medical, Nursing and other colleagues to provide a multi-disciplinary approach. The post holder will participate in ward rounds, team meetings and training both within the department and for our colleagues in paediatric critical care. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual with strong paediatric respiratory skills and experience.

You will work alongside the Acute Paediatric Physiotherapy team based in the Child Development Centre at St George’s Hospital and the wider team in the community and special schools. We are a major trauma centre and support a number of regional specialties which include neurology, neurosurgery, oncology and orthopaedics. It is therefore beneficial to have experience in these areas and also in competency assessment and complex discharge planning.

You must have post-qualification as a specialised Physiotherapist in paediatric critical care and you must have NHS experience. Please make sure you read the job description and show evidence on your application. You will be expected to work as part of 7 day working model.
