Locum Consultant in Integrated Sexual Health & HIV Consultant(10PA, Fixed Term 12 Months - Maternity Cover)

Applications are invited for a locum post available from Feb 2022 for a LOCUM CONSULTANT in Genitourinary Medicine/Integrated Sexual Health & HIV Medicine, based at The Wakeley Centre, a newly refurbished community HUB in Hillingdon, and at Northwick Park Hospital, part of the London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust. Less than full time commitments would also be welcomed.

This is an exciting opportunity to work with ethnically diverse communities, with a team renowned for innovation in sexual health care, and as part of the Outer North West London Network. The service is transitioning to an integrated sexual health service (ISH)and HIV Service which involves the integration of Online (SH:24), Community and Face to Face GUM, and Contraception services in Hillingdon and provision of HIV care to an established cohort. HIV care is currently provided at the Northwick Park Hospital site while Phase 2 development at the Hillingdon Hub is completed. The NPH site is the base for sub-regional adult and paediatric ID services, HIV outpatient and inpatient care for the LNWUH service.

GUM face to face attendances in Hillingdon in 2018-19 were approximately 8,000, and there is a cohort of around 350 HIV patients currently receiving outpatient care.

The Integrated sexual health Service

The ISRH clinics are open daily Monday to Friday and operate mainly a booked access with some walk-in capacity available. Services are mainly 9 to 5 however there are two evening clinics a week. HIV Services are 9-5 Monday to Thursday.

Requirements for the Post

The Doctor will work within the multidisciplinary team to oversee and provide a clinical integrated sexual health & HIV service to Hillingdon Residents

Clinical duties will include:

  • Assessment including examination and treatment of unselected patients attending the sexual health department
  • Leading and supporting the Integrated Sexual Health Team.
  • Leading and supporting the HIV Service Team
  • Providing medical support to the Nurse led services
  • Provide safe and effective care in line with departmental and national guidelines
