Job Description

The Neurodevelopmental Conditions (NDC) Service is part of the integrated CAMHS for children and young people aged 5-18 and their families / carers. The function of the NDC Service is to ensure that presentation of the emotional and mental health needs of children and young people with suspected or identified neurodevelopmental conditions such as autism and ADHD are appropriately met, with the aim of increasing ability to manage these long term conditions, and reducing the likelihood of long-term mental health problems. The service is delivered by a multidisciplinary team who can deliver a range of evidence-based therapeutic interventions.

The post holder will provide a specialist clinical psychology service to the young people who access the NDC Service, working within the multidisciplinary team. They will provide specialist psychological assessment and therapy to clients and offer advice, consultation and supervision on clients’ psychological psychological care to non-psychologist colleagues and to other, non-professional carers. They will be part of the multidisciplinary assessment team for autism and ADHD. They will work autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the team’s policies and procedures. They will utilise research skills for audit, policy and service development and research within the area served by the team/service.

This post is a fixed-term vacancy to cover maternity leave and is a potential secondment opportunity for someone interested in developing their knowledge and experience of neurodevelopmental conditions in a specialist team.
