The post holder is responsible for the provision of a high quality and evidence based service. The post holder is a highly skilled practitioner, who will act as a source of knowledge and expertise for patients, families and other members of the health care team.

You will take a lead role in the planning, co-ordinating, delivering and evaluating of the occupational therapy service within the ICU, Orthopaedics and Surgery teams The post holder will be proactively developing the Discharge to Assess model within the Trust for the Rehabilitation Service.

Supporting training to the ward multi-disciplinary teams on the role of Occupational therapy and complex discharge planning to carry a mixed caseload of highly complex and routine conditions. When required, to seek guidance from appropriate colleagues.

To provide specialist assessment, and treatment of patients within own caseload and to continue to develop further their knowledge and skills. This work is carried out in hospital and within the patient's home environment.

To maintain records as an autonomous practitioner.

The practitioner will be responsible for supervising the professional development of occupational therapy staff within the orthopaedic and surgical teams .
