Job Description

THIS POST IS A FIXED TERM/SECONDMENT UNTIL 31ST OCTOBER 2022 TO COVER MATERNITY LEAVE. IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN APPLYING FOR THE SECONDMENT POSITION, YOU MUST OBTAIN PERMISSION FROM YOUR CURRENT LINE MANAGER PRIOR TO APPLYING FOR THIS POST

Public Health Wales’ Health Improvement Division is seeking to appoint a Personal Assistant to support two Consultants in Public Health.

The position is 37.5 hours per week and will be based in our Public Health Wales NHS Trust offices in Capital Quarter 2 which is in the city centre 10 minutes from Queen Street and Central train stations and 15 minutes from Cardiff Bay.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, proactive and motivated individual to join our Personal Support Team. This role will provide high level administration and PA support to two Consultants in Public Health. As part of the wider Personal Support Team you will also provide cover for the Health Improvement Leadership Team when needed.

The successful applicant will demonstrate proven experience of working as a Personal Assistant as well as excellent communication, planning and organisational skills.

This post is a very busy and varied role which requires the ability to deal with a wide range of tasks as well as organising and prioritising your workload. The ability to work on your own initiative in order to meet the requirements of both Consultants in Public Health is essential.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Our Health and Well-Being Directorate and our World Health Organization Collaborating Centre for Investment in Health and Well-being (WHOCC) Directorates will soon be working as one. The combining of these two directorates is our next phase as an organisation to ensure that we are best designed to meet the population health needs in Wales by bringing together the skills and staff in these directorates into one powerful population health directorate. This does mean there will be changes to our team structures and we are advising candidates that some roles may be subject to change in the coming 12 months. Changes for staff could include a change in line manager; variations to job descriptions or changes to roles and responsibilities. If changes are required, these will be discussed fully with those affected, in accordance with our Organisational Change Policy.
