We have an exciting new opportunity for an experienced marketing professional, or public health practitioner with significant knowledge and experience in social marketing, to lead a new national social marketing team for health improvement in Wales. If you have a track record of delivering impact through marketing/social marketing and you have a growing passion to make a positive difference to people’s lives nationally, then this role could be perfect for you.

Public Health Wales (PHW), the national public health agency with around 1700 staff and an annual budget of c 130 million, exists to protect and improve health and wellbeing and reduce health inequalities for the people of Wales. The Health Improvement Division works across key settings, systems and populations to improve health and wellbeing, with programmes of activity on key health behaviours particularly smoking, nutrition and obesity, and physical inactivity.

The Health Improvement Division is developing a new social marketing programme team, contributing the technical expertise in the disciplines within marketing/social marketing to our wider health improvement activity to build on the award-winning social marketing activity already being undertaken.

Leading and managing the new team, working closely with the Divisional programme leads and other internal and external partners including commercial agencies, the successful candidate will have a track record of strategic planning and leading the implementation and evaluation of marketing/social marketing programmes which deliver results. As well as providing the end-to-end technical expertise from insight generation to evaluation, the successful candidate will also provide the strategic and partnership ability to influence at a senior level both locally and nationally.
