Job Description

Due to significant service expansion, an exciting opportunity has arisen for Radiopharmacy Technicians within the Radiopharmacy team at the Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust, at the Sutton site of the hospital.

The post offers an opportunity for an enthusiastic, self-motivated individual to develop their aseptic skills whilst contributing to running our comprehensive clinical Radiopharmacy service to the Trust and a number of external hospitals. The work of the Radiopharmacy includes dispensing and quality control of diagnostic and therapeutic radiopharmaceuticals, as well as provision of an In Vitro laboratory service.

The post-holders are required to work to extremely high standards of accuracy and must have a flexible approach to work. Major job roles include the production and QC of radiopharmaceuticals under the terms of the Manufacturers Specials licence and the IMP Manufacturer’s Authorisations held by the Radiopharmacy. The post holders will be supported by the operational team as well as the senior team.

Successful applicants will be part of a friendly, supportive and experienced team that provides a Tc-99m service alongside high quality specialist services including a range of 68Ga-radiopharmaceuticals, and Lu-177 therapeutic radiolabelling and clinical trials. The post holder will be expected to participate in the clinical trial work and development activities of the Department which provides an excellent opportunity for an ambitious Radiopharmacy technician to progress their skill set.

Ideally, applicants is a registered Pharmacy Technician (GPhC) or hold a suitable degree in a related scientific discipline, including a post-graduate qualification in Radiopharmacy. Previous experience in Radiopharmacy is preferred but not essential. Training will be provided to applicants with aseptic background but no radiopharmacy experience.

It is a requirement of the job that all staff are available to start work between 05:00 08:30 on a rotational basis.
