We have an exciting opportunity for newly qualified or experienced staff nurses to join our School Nursing Team.

We have 2 full time posts. Applicants with work 37.5 hours per week all year around over 5 days per week. Applicants will only be considered for an all year around post.. Applicants must be able to work shift patterns within services core hours of 8.30-5.30.

We welcome applications from newly qualified or experience staff nurses who would like to pursue a career within the community or experienced staff wishing to develop a career in the community.

We are looking for highly motivated and innovative individual who is committed to working in partnership with others in reducing health inequalities and delivering the best health outcomes to children and families.

The School Nursing service is part of the wider Children’s Health services which provides Community based services for children and young people (aged 5-19 years). The School nursing service works with stakeholders across a number of settings and organisations to lead delivery of the Healthy Child Programme (5-19) to improve child health outcomes and ensure that families at risk are identified at the earliest opportunity.

The overarching aim of public health services for children (5-19) is to prevent and promote the health and wellbeing of children and families and protect against ill health and harm. The School nursing service is a workforce of specialist community public health nurses who provide expert advice, support and interventions to families with children and young people between 5-19 years, and help empower them to make positive decisions about their future health and wellbeing. This service is led by qualified school nurses and supported by a skill mix team. The service is central to delivering public health outcomes for children.

Our service is committed to provide a range of high quality health services to children and young people and their families. This is an exciting time for School Nursing in Walsall and you will be able to contribute to the shaping and influence the direction of the school nursing service.

As a staff nurse you will work a part of a skilled mixed team to deliver the Healthy Child Program 5-19 Service within Walsall Healthcare NHS. You will contribute to assessment and delivering of care to individuals and groups of children, supporting their physical and emotional health needs.
