Senior Clinical Fellow Cardiothoracic Anaesthesia

Job Description

Whole time or part time Senior Clinical Fellowship in Cardiothoracic Anaesthesia to the Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, based at the Northern General Hospital.

The appointment is to commence as soon as possible for a fixed term period of one year. Applicants should have completed at least 4 years of specialist training in anaesthesia, including experience in cardiac intensive care, thoracic & cardiac anaesthesia and are looking to broaden their experience in Cardiothoracic Anaesthesia and Cardiothoracic Intensive Care. The post does not award a National Training Number. As this post is not recognised as a 'training post', full registration with the GMC with a licence to practise is required, and if the appointee does not hold right of residence in the UK sponsorship will be required.

The post will have NO on call commitment. This will allow daytime experience in theatres and excellent exposure to anaesthetising a wide range of elective and emergency cardiac, thoracic and cardiology cases. Depending on the candidate's previous training in intensive care medicine, there will be opportunity to spend daytime sessions on the cardiac intensive care unit and become more confident in managing complex patients after cardiac and thoracic surgery, on a 12-bedded postoperative adult cardiac surgical CICU.
