Job summary
A vacancy has arisen within the Gynaecology Outpatient Department at the Royal Sussex County Hospital for a part - time experienced Health Care Assistant to work 27 hours per week.
We are seeking an enthusiastic and adaptable Health Care Assistant to join our busy unit working within our small and friendly nursing team.
This outpatient unit offers care to those with complex gynaecological conditions, (fertility/general/oncology/colposcopy) from a wide ranging patient demographic.
You will be supported in learning how to run our outpatient clinics and how to assist in the clinical aspects of the care our patients receive. A full induction programme and training will be given to the successful candidate.
You will work closely with all members of the Multidisciplinary Team responsible for the running of outpatients' clinics.

- Assist with the provision of patient care and administrative duties within the Gynaecology outpatient Department
- Assist with the most effective use of resources and manpower
- Carry outappropriate patientobservations and procedures under supervision and with relevant training
- Toparticipatein quality assurance programmes as require
- Attend mandatory training updates as required

Job responsibilities
- To actively take part in meeting the needs of the patients under the supervision of a qualified nurse, working within the Trust's policies and procedures and the philosophy of the department
- To understand role andparticipatein control of infection
- Under the supervision of a qualified nurse, support patients undergoing clinical procedures ensuring their comfort and safety.
- check-patients in using the patient information system and complete other reception duties including booking of appointments whenappropriate, completing clinic outcomes and supporting day-to-day operational running of the department
- Communicate in an efficient,politeand courteous mannerat all times
- Discussing with senior staff any resourcesrequired to provide service delivery.

Person Specification
Experience/Qualifications
Essential
- NHS experience or NHS primary care experience is required or an internationally educated nurse/midwife/doctor who has worked in an acute hospital setting within recent years
- Care Certificate from an Ofqual regulated awarding organisation. OR international qualification e.g overseas nursing degree
- Ability to demonstrate knowledge and skills acquisition, working at a higher-level standard of care delivery, equivalent to vocational qualification level 3. This is evidenced via a portfolio of practice and/or a professional discussion
Desirable
- Gynaecology Experience or Outpatient setting
