Senior Mental Health Practitioner

Job Description

In our BSW (Bath and North East Somerset, Swindon and Wiltshire) CAMHS service we are proud to be developing a needs led, responsive and accessible service based on the i-Thrive model that has excellent feedback from young people and their families. We are seeking to recruit to a full-time Band 6 Senior Mental Health Practitioner within the OSCA service which currently sits at the interface between core CAMHS and the newly developing Crisis Resolution and Home Treatment Service (CRHT).

Applications are invited from suitably qualified, experienced and enthusiastic mental health nurses, occupational therapists and social workers. We are very interested to hear from qualified practitioners who may not have experience of working with a younger age group but have transferrable skills or newly qualified professionals who are keen to progress their career and develop their skills. You will be based within core CAMHS at the community hospital in the vibrant market town of Marlborough.

This substantive post involves assertive outreach, care coordination, planned work to support intensive packages of care for young people presenting in crisis or at risk, liaison assessment, working collaboratively with core CAMHS and the eating disorder service. Treatment can involve a range of evidence-based and psychosocial interventions, working collaboratively with the young person at the centre of everything you do and drawing on a wide network of resource. You will develop sound professional relationships with colleagues within and outside of CAMHS, building strong networks to provide a safe service and support partner agencies.

The successful candidate will be offered training in Positive Behaviour Support and DBT informed Coping Skills. There will also be the opportunity for further training based around individual learning needs. We have good professional support in our service and regular professional regional meetings in addition to planned clinical and management supervision and support from the multi-disciplinary team.
