Barnsley Hospital are looking to appoint a dynamic and highly motivated individual to a 12 month seconded post of Sister/Charge Nurse for the Recovery Unit. We expect the highest standards of clinical care for our patients and we are proud of our achievements regarding patient safety.


You will be able to communicate effectively and adopt a practical common sense approach to working, be able to work well under pressure, and you should have evidence of continued professional development. The ability to motivate and lead a team with significant recovery/theatre experience at Band 5 level is crucial. Ideally you would be multi-skilled and have previous experience of coordinating a busy day unit – being flexible and adaptable is crucial in our busy department.

The Theatre Suite at Barnsley Hospital consists of 7 elective operating theatres, 1 emergency operating theatre and 1 obstetric theatre. Our clinical work is varied and includes, obstetrics, colorectal surgery, vascular surgery, trauma and orthopaedics, gynaecology, breast surgery, urology, ophthalmology, paediatric surgery, maxillo facial surgery, head and neck surgery and oral surgery.
