We are pleased to advertise a full time vacancy for a permanent Band 8a Clinical or Counselling Psychologist/ Neuropsychologist. This is a new and exciting post embedded within Worcestershire’s stroke services covering the rehabilitation stroke unit, early supported discharge (ESD) and the community stroke teams. The successful applicant will also have a small number of dedicated sessions to work within the Complex Neuro Rehab Team which sees patients with a range of neurological conditions including ABI, Epilepsy, brain tumours, MS and Parkinson’s disease.

They will be based at Evesham Community Hospital, but will also spend a proportion of their time at our two other bases at Pershore Community Hospital and the Princess of Wales Hospital, Bromsgrove.

The post holder will be a core member of the team and deliver timely psychological care after stroke in line with the National Stroke Service ISDN Model which emphasises the importance of addressing psychological, emotional, cognitive and neuropsychological effects commonly experienced by stroke survivors. The successful candidate will be key in developing and providing a stepped care approach with an emphasis on MDT working and neuropsychological consultation. They will have experience in undertaking cognitive and mood screening, MDT joint working, specialist psychological and neuropsychological assessment, delivery of psychological, vocational and neuropsychological interventions as well as consultation, teaching and training.

The role will provide an excellent opportunity to develop or expand your skills in clinical neuropsychology, stroke and neuro disability whilst also offers the opportunity to develop and strengthen a broader range of skills and experiences. You will be working with patients, families and carers within a specialised and experienced multidisciplinary team whilst also being a core member of the neuropsychology service at an exciting time of growth and development.

CPD to support skill development in neuropsychology would be actively encouraged and support and advice around career progression is available through the supervisory relationship. We have previously supported clinicians in the Trust to complete their QiCN and we would be willing to pursue this opportunity for the right candidate.
