Specialist Doctor Oncology


Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Oncology Specialist Doctor to join the Oncology team at St Luke’s Cancer Centre at the Royal Surrey Hospital.

The Oncology division is looking for a senior person who has the capability to independently manage Oncology patients with Lower GI tumours, and take named individual responsibility for such patients.

The successful applicant will be based at the RSH in Guildford providing a high level of medical care to the Oncology patients in the outpatient clinics , plus on the ward. The post holder will work closely with the Oncology Consultant team for Oncological care of the patient. The main objective of the role would be to address clinic demands and take responsibility for the management of Oncology patients within the specialist tumour groups.

This is a 10PA post consisting of outpatient clinics, ward work, MDT meetings, radiotherapy chemotherapy prescribing. In order to fulfil the responsibilities of this post you must be eligible for full GMC registration. This is a new post within the department.

The Royal Surrey County Hospital Foundation Trust provides specialist Cancer and Haemato-Oncological care, including complex Cancer surgery, to the population of the South West Surrey and Hampshire, a catchment area of approximately 1.4 million. Non-surgical oncological treatment for these patients is provided at the St. Luke’s Cancer Centre, which is an integral part of the Trust. There are close links with surrounding cancer units and the Surrey Clinical Research Centre.
