Job Description

The King’s College Hospital POSCU (Paediatric Oncology Shared Care Unit) provides supportive care for children and young people with cancer aged 0-18 years and has one of the largest POSCU caseloads in London. The POSCU Multidisciplinary team shares the care of patients with the London oncology centres (Royal Marsden, Great Ormond Street and UCL Hospitals), and is collocated with a regional Neurosurgical Unit and Supraregional Hepatology, as well as having onsite critical care facilities. We provide planned outpatient chemotherapy administration and inpatient management of complications of disease and treatment, for patients with the full range of paediatric solid tumours and haematological malignancies. The multidisciplinary team approach is essential for providing holistic care and these new posts will join our existing team of Paediatric Haematologists, Paediatricians and Clinical Nurse Specialists.

We are excited to be able to appoint to our existing POSCU Multidisciplinary team the following newly funded posts, to enhance and develop the comprehensive and holistic care we can provide for our oncology patients.

We are delighted to be recruiting for a brand-new permanent Band 7 post to join our large friendly team of paediatric dietitians based at the Denmark Hill site. We are looking for a highly motivated self-starter with wide ranging paediatric dietetic experience who is keen to set up this new service.

The paediatric team at Denmark Hill provides specialist tertiary services as well as serving a large multi-cultural local population. The children’s hospital, embedded within King’s, is a specialist centre for trauma, CF, liver transplant, intestinal transplant, neurosurgery, neonatal surgery, allergy and medicine.

This post will set up and provide a comprehensive service to the oncology service and will work collaboratively and innovatively with both the expanding MDT and the other specialist dietetic services, primarily the liver and neuro specialist dietitians.

Applicants should have HCPC registration and be able to demonstrate wide experience as a paediatric dietitian. Experience in an acute NHS setting is essential, as are excellent communication and team working skills.

Continuing professional development is encouraged through the appraisal system and there is a well-established in-service education programme. Attendance at national and international conferences is encouraged and supported and there are comprehensive library and computer facilities on site.

We have many examples of flexible and part-time working in our team and an excellent retention record.
