Alder Hey Children’s NHS Foundation Trust is a stand-alone paediatric hospital located on the outskirts of Liverpool with a national reputation for excellence.It recently featured in the award-winning BBC documentary “Hospital”.


This is an exciting new opportunity for a pharmacist with vision and motivation to join ourdynamic department.This is a split post (50:50)and the successful candidate will workwithin the Aseptic Services Unit (ASU) within pharmacy and will alsoprovide a clinical service to a variety of paediatric specialities.


The Aseptic Services Unit at Alder Hey is housed in a state of the art facility within the pharmacy department. The unit comprises VHP technology, automated compounding and gene therapy facilities and delivers a medicines portfolio across parenteral nutrition, small injectables (CIVAS), chemotherapy and investigational medicinal products. After major investment by the Trust we are developing our senior management and production teams within the aseptic services unit. This new post will be fundamental in supporting delivery of the Trust objectives around utilisation of the aseptic unit and it’s progression to becoming an MHRA licensed unit.

The clinical aspect of the role willinclude a variety of rotations through paediatric surgical and paediatric medical specialities. This also enables development of leadership skills through mentoring junior pharmacists and deputising for Senior Specialist Pharmacists, as needed.The clinical pharmacy team are forward thinking, innovative, caring and compassionate and workwell together.


For the aseptic aspect of this role we wish to recruit a highly motivated individual who will support the day to day operation of the aseptic unit. Experience of paediatrics and aseptic services is preferable but full training will be given on commencement in post.

We are looking for an experienced hospital pharmacist with a positive outlook who thrives within the multi-disciplinary team environment and has great communication skills.The successful candidatewill have excellent organisational skills and have theability to prioritise and manage their own work and the work of others.
