HMP Dovegate is a Category B adult male facility near Uttoxeter, Staffordshire which houses sentenced adult males and also those on remand, this allows for work to be varied between, quick timely responsiveness for those on remand and a more planned intervention of care and support for those of the sentenced adult population. HMP Dovegate serves the courts across Staffordshire and Stoke on Trent and has a capacity of 1060 and is a working prison where learning opportunities are widely available to help the men on release.


More about the role…

You will be responsible for the management and leadership of the team. With a small clinical caseload you will offer assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of evidenced based interventions. The team will manage a case-load of patients, practicing within the framework of the multi-disciplinary team and Care Programme Approach.

The team will work with individuals from initial assessment through to discharge which can include transferring care to other providers such as hospitals or CMHTs whilst working with a variety of agencies in the Offender Health Pathway.

You will need an excellent working knowledge of the Mental Health Act and its application to prisoners who require transfer to hospital

The postholder will benefit from the experience and support of Clinical Leads and that of its NHS employer. Inclusion (part of Midlands Partnership NHS Foundation Trust) has prison substance misuse and mental health teams across the country and you will benefit from training and development opportunities as well as the support of an NHS employer experienced in providing prison healthcare.
