Job summary

The Transformation Analyst will support the formulation and delivery of analytics for the ESNEFT Transformation programme and project portfolio, with the objective of tailoring, optimising, and enhancing clinical and care services to meet evolving patient needs. Working at the leading edge of analytics, the role requires you to apply the best possible combination of data and statistical analysis techniques.

You will have excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information in an easily understood way to non-analytical audiences. You will also have experience in working with benchmarking tools, activity forecasting, modelling, and statistical analysis. You will have experience in using analysis and programming languages such as SQL and R.

On a temporary basis for a 12-month fixed term/Secondment for Internal ESNEFT Staff. In line with our current home working policy, working time will be split between Trust sites, with a significant proportion of time spent working from home. We are all working flexibly from home during the current restrictions, and interviews will be conducted online via Microsoft Teams.

Main duties of the job

  • Consult/coordinate with relevant administrative and clinical stakeholders to plan and implement the collection and submission of mandatory datasets (national or local requirements).
  • Drive process efficiencies, cost reduction, standardisation and system reconfiguration, and optimising organisational value and resource scheduling through robust data analysis
  • Develop and maintain programme and project documentation (such as the programme governance framework and controls, project and milestone plans, organisation and stakeholder requirements,
  • Consider interdependencies within and between the transformation programme and wider organisation
  • Benefits Management and Realisation (conducting cost-benefit analysis, determining appropriate Key Performance Indicators, commissioning benchmarking studies, baseline measures and benefits profiles, acceptance criteria, and arranging benefits tracking

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Educated to masters level or equivalent experience in a numerical subject, such as Maths, Physics, Economics, Operational Research, Statistics or Social Research or Business administration
  • Evidence of continued professional development
  • Further training in analytics and statistical analysis where relevant

Desirable

  • Management/leadership qualification or equivalent experience
  • Project Management Qualification

Experience

Essential

  • Proven experience of working in a analyst role
  • Experience of facilitating change in practice to improve services
  • Project management/co-ordination

Desirable

  • Experience working on transformation or business development projects
  • Experience scoping/ designing and managing its own analytical work.
  • Experience working with EPIC EPR

Knowledge and Skills

Essential

  • Advanced skills in at least one programming language commonly used for analysis (SQL PowerBI)
  • Benchmarking, modelling and forecasting skills
  • Working knowledge of NHS Data Standards and Information Systems
  • Knowledge of data warehouse environments

Desirable

  • Good understanding of GIRFT metrics
  • Good understanding of Model Hospital
  • Understanding of NHS data flows and information issues, including Data Standards, the Secondary Uses Service and commissioning information.
  • NHS IT systems
