Bob McGowan, Head of Guest Experience at Ambassador Cruise Line, Britain’s newest cruise line will be live to talk about the recent launch of their ship, Ambience and answer questions on all things cruise.
About Ambassador Cruise Line
Ambassador Cruise Line is a brand-new cruise line and is the first new British cruise line to be launched since 2010. Its purpose is to inspire and delight every guest to enjoy an authentic cruise experience effortlessly, and sustainably.
The cruise line will run a number of multi-generation cruises over the summer holidays.
Ambassador delivers distinguished cuisine, fascinating voyages on a classic cruise ship, with great entertainment, like-minded guests visiting treasured destinations. All sailings are no-fly, ex-UK and destinations include the British Isles, the Norwegian Fjords, Greenland, the Arctic and Iceland, plus several short break cruises. For the winter months a range of exploration style voyages will sail to the Canaries, Cuba, the Caribbean, Cape Verde and Scandinavia.
The cruise line sails for the British market from London Tilbury with a focus on premium-value. Their first ship, Ambience, set sail from Tilbury in April 2022 after an exciting launch event where the ship was officially christened by former British athlete, Sally Gunnell OBE.
Ambience, a smaller to mid-sized classic cruise ship with a capacity of 1,400 guests, offers a higher space to guest ratio, making cruising more relaxed and providing guests with reassurance and the room to breathe.
Ambience’s second season, and the cruise line’s second lady Ambition’s first season will go on sale later this month. Ambition’s programme will also include a selection of regional departures including Newcastle, Dundee, Belfast, Liverpool, Bristol and Falmouth, enabling guests across the UK to have a shorter distance to travel before experiencing Ambassador’s onboard service. Ambition will carry up to 1,200 passengers to give her a true sense of comfort and space.

Bob has been working in the hospitality and travel industry for over 18 years, originally training in hospitality management. He started his career overseas in 2000 before moving onto a cruise ship working his way up to Cruise Director for Thomson Cruises.
His passion for delivering excellence and exceeding customers’ expectations saw him hold senior roles in resorts and hotels around the world. In 2010, he started working for Cruise & Maritime Voyages, eventually becoming Director of Guest Services & Product.
Now as Head of Guest Experience for Ambassador, Bob heads up the Guest Experience Department ensuring that the delivery and experience that guests receive both shoreside and onboard is seamless and memorable.
