It’s been ages since I had a new pair of FitFlops. That’s because the pairs I already have just keep going and going. They are so well made, super dooper comfortable, and stylish too. More about them in a second…
Long gone are the days when I would willingly cram my tootsies into pointed heels. Looking back, I never managed to walk in them elegantly. I dread to think what I looked like as I tottered along the pavement! Of course if you are like Darcy Bussell and can wear stratospherically sexy heels with absolute aplomb, then you are one talented woman in my book.
However, I don’t want to rub it in but nowadays we all know the penalties of wearing high heels – bunions, spider veins, shortened muscles in your calves, to say nothing of stiffened Achilles tendons giving you muscle spasms, and long term back and knee problems. Like so many older women I am taking full advantage of the (thankfully seemingly never ending) athleisure trend – long live trainers!
If you have wide feet, prefer not to have squashed toes, or are looking for a pair of shoes that you can wear all-day long without looking frumpy , then check out FitFlop. My friend Bumble says her foot doctor swears by them if you have Plantar fasciitis – a disorder that results in pain in the heel and bottom of the foot and is quite common as we age.
Here are some of FitFlop’s new season’s styles you might like:
Grace: From the moment I slipped these light-as-a-feather Airmesh sneakers on, my feet were saying “Thank you”. I normally avoid Chelsea boots or shoes that you have to pull on (ie no laces), but these were a breeze to slip my feet in and out of. I am usually an 8.5 but 8 fits me perfectly. My feet and ankles feel supported, something which is important whatever age you are.
Annabel: Airmesh sneakers are like outdoor slippers. They are perfect for travelling when your feet tend to swell. I can also take them on holiday if one of our guests manages to drag me from my sunbed out on a walk! Only problem is which colour to choose… black, white, green, orange or red.
GRACE’S HUSBAND:
I am extremely happy with my first pair of Fitflop shoes! Light as a feather, incredibly comfortable to wear and look the biz whether I’m wearing jeans or more formal chinos or corduroys. I feel good when looking good and these fit the bill. Highly recommend.

ANNABEL’S HUSBAND:
My leather sneakers combine style and comfort. It is hard for men to find casual shoes that are not slip-ons or trainers but Fitflop offer a very extensive range. Even though I was meant to save them for my summer holiday I tried them on and it was like walking on air, so I think I will be wearing them as much as I can.
