The older I get, the more I love colourful shoes. One of my current favourite outfits is a navy jumpsuit which I wear with bright red loafers. And I have rather large feet – depending on the brand anything from a size 8 to a size 9. So you’d think I would want to disguise them not show them off. But stand-out shoes make us feel a bit more youthful – as if we’re saying to the world “Hey, I’m not dead yet.” So, here’s a selection of some of the latest designs available online… just click on any photo for more info.

I have recently fallen in love with powder blue – both when decorating my bedroom and the lightweight jumper I have just bought. Loving these backless slip on trainers, ideal if you’re not keen on laces and like to kick off your shoes every now and again. From Converse, a brand that is more commonly associated with bright young things, we older gals can find wearable styles too. MORE INFO
A lesser known brand, Hudson, has these Yara Suede Ballet Flats. Shaped from beautifully soft suede they have a slim elegant sole and the elasticated cuffs gently keep your feet in place. MORE INFO
