Were looking for Analysts to join us and turn data, intelligence and evidence into insight that strengthens compliance and protects consumers.

Were offering two permanent roles with the chance to contribute to a high-profile area of regulation at an important time for the retail energy market. Youll join our Retail Compliance team, helping strengthen the evidence behind decisions that influence supplier behaviour and consumer outcomes. Working across a broad range of intelligence and compliance activity, youll gain valuable exposure to the issues shaping the market and help ensure emerging risks are identified early.

This is a varied role where quantitative and qualitative insight come together to support effective regulation. Youll work alongside colleagues across compliance, policy, enforcement, digital and operations, helping turn complex information into clear intelligence that supports proportionate action and better outcomes for consumers.

Were looking for someone with strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills, including experience using large datasets to generate robust, actionable insight and support effective decision-making. Youll also bring excellent written and verbal communication skills, the ability to work collaboratively with varied stakeholders and the organisation to manage competing priorities across multiple areas of work.

Job description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Gather, analyse and interpret qualitative and quantitative information to identify emerging compliance risks, market trends, supplier performance issues and potential consumer impacts.
  • Support routine horizon scanning by monitoring intelligence sources, stakeholder feedback, consumer insight, external publications and operational data.
  • Undertake research and analysis to support compliance investigations, supplier assessments, evidence reviews and wider Retail Compliance workstreams.
  • Support the development, maintenance and improvement of KPIs, performance indicators, intelligence frameworks and analytical approaches.
  • Work collaboratively with compliance colleagues, analysts, policy professionals and workstream leads to understand evidence requirements and provide proportionate analytical support.
  • Identify and escalate emerging risks, issues and trends to senior colleagues, contributing to evidence-led prioritisation and decision making.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement by strengthening analytical processes, reporting approaches, intelligence products and responsible use of automation or AI-enabled tools.
  • Communicate analytical findings clearly and confidently, ensuring outputs are accurate, quality-assured and tailored to specialist and non-specialist audiences.

Key Outputs and Deliverables:

  • Clear, evidence-based analytical products that combine data, intelligence and qualitative insight to support compliance prioritisation and decision making.
  • Routine horizon scanning outputs that highlight emerging risks, market developments, supplier performance issues and potential consumer impacts.
  • Inputs into compliance casework and query responses, including evidence summaries, data analysis, briefing materials and recommendations for senior colleagues.
  • Supplier assessments, risk evaluations and evidence reviews that support proportionate compliance action.
  • KPI, performance and intelligence products that help Retail Compliance monitor supplier performance, track trends and assess consumer outcomes.
  • Governance reporting, insight packs, briefing notes and management information products that are clear, accurate and tailored to the intended audience.
  • Well-structured information requests and data collection inputs that support robust evidence gathering.
  • Improved analytical templates, repeatable products, standard approaches and process improvements that strengthen consistency and efficiency across Retail Compliance.
  • Quality-assured analytical outputs that are accurate, proportionate, clearly documented and capable of supporting regulatory decision making.

Person specification

Essential Criteria:

  • Analysis skills: able to make use of analytical techniques (quantitative and qualitative) to produce robust, high-quality results and support decision making (LEAD CRITERIA)
  • Excellent communication: able to communicate complex points clearly and with intended audience in mind (for example, technical information to a non-technical audience). Confident in written and verbal communication.
  • Experience working with large datasets and the ability to develop actionable data-lead insights.
  • Experience working effectively with diverse sets of stakeholders.
  • Experience of managing competing priorities across multiple projects.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Experience of, or willingness to learn, Python or similar statistical software.
  • Proficient in MS programmes such as Excel, Power Bi, and Power Automate, or willingness to learn.
